President Mahinda Rajapakse addressing a public meeting in Thirukkovil

The president says the fluttering national flag demonstrates the pride of the entire nation liberated from terrorism. Terrorists have propagated throughout the country their law and terror. No other head of state before was able to contain them.  President Mahinda Rajapakse addressing a public meeting in Thirukkovil last evening also said that privileges could not be restricted to a particular area or to a particular ethnic group. All must act as one to build a country where all could live as a single community.  The president further said the “Nagenahira Navodaya” programme has implemented many development projects. He also pointed out the need of not  becoming  cohorts of petty politicians who want to destroy the country.  President Rajapakse addressing another rally in Akurana further said that the people must take care not to handover to the future generation the challenge of eradiating terrorism once again.  A large gathering of Sinhala Tamil and Muslim communities attended the rallies where the president addressed the masses in both Sinhala and Tamil languages.  The president is scheduled to conduct 2 public rallies in Anamaduwa and Kurunegala today.
